Many Strange Women, an inspirational romance novel by award-winning author Parker J. Cole, is a story of an unlikely couple Solomon Greene and Celeste Martin who never expected their relationship would be anything more than a bargain.
Solomon Greene made a deal with God–If He’d send him an ugly woman, he’d marry her on sight and do what was spiritually right by God. After all, he needed an ugly wife to help him escape from his past.
Celeste Martin made a deal with Solomon. She’d be his ugly wife. She didn’t want anything from Solomon but his name. She was in love with her sister’s fiancé and he would be the only man she’d ever love.
Solomon had no idea that he’d find his ugly wife fascinating. Celeste didn’t know that one taste from her husband’s lips would have her wanting more. Yet many strange women were between them. Would Solomon ever escape from his past? Would Celeste ever love her husband?
Parker J. Cole spends most of her time reading, knitting, writing, cooking, and concocting new ideas for stories. She lives in Michigan with her husband and their beloved dog, Sarah. Dark Cherub is her first novel. Her next novel will debut in January 2014 entitled Many Strange Women, part of the Sins of the Flesh inspirational romance series.

Q and A with Parker J. Cole
Parker, what led you to write Many Strange Women?
Book Two of the series is the one I started to write first. As I delved into the characters, Celeste and Solomon’s story started to emerge from that. It caused me to put a hold on book two and make Celeste’s and Solomon’s story the first in the series. I’m glad I did because I met some other interesting characters (or personified the voices in my head – it’s a toss-up) along the way.
Why did you feel the need to write the Sins of the Flesh series?
I think Christian fiction should be edgier and have more realistic characters than some of the superChristian characters I’ve come across. Don’t get me wrong – those type of protagonists are examples of the Christian walk needed. They give us something to aim for. But most of us are not superChristians. Heck, we’re not even superChristian’s sidekick. Why not have stories that relate to real-life situations we can relate to.
Another reason is that interracial relationships are sorely lacking in Christian fiction. And when they are present, the race is a plot device. Being in an interracial marriage allows for me to love my husband regardless of what he looks like. For me, it was important to have an interracial couple but not to highlight their race.
Finally, the church needs to be frank and honest when talking about sins of the flesh. When I taught my teens, I was honest with them about sex and stuff like that. They always knew they could come to me if they had questions, concerns, or whatever. I want that openness to reflect in my writing.
What is Many Strange Women about?
Solomon has a past he is trying to escape from and he feels being married to an unattractive woman would help him do that. And, if God sent him one, he’d do right by God. Celeste agrees to be his unattractive wife because she’d rather marry any man than pine after her sister’s fiancée.
Yet, Solomon didn’t expect to be captivated by this woman and Celeste didn’t expect for him to have any interest in her. So where do they go from there?
You mentioned Book Two story earlier. Tell us about it.
Book Two is called The Other Man and that story revolves around Celeste’s sister Leah and her husband Jacob. Basically, Leah still has feelings for her ex-flame Vincent even though she loves her husband very much. But will that love be enough for her to remain faithful?
