Macoupin County Historical Society
I was honored to be the speaker at the Macoupin County Historical Society’s annual picnic in Carlinville, Illinois last Sunday, June 2.
I delivered my PowerPoint presentation, “Weaving History into Fiction,” which explains the local history behind my trilogy. I, for one, had a great time. It’s always nice hanging out with others who love history. But the best part of the day was getting to tour the Society’s showcase museum, the Anderson Mansion.
This huge 3-story white house, beautiful and elegant inside and out, was built around 1870. Dedicated volunteers have lovingly restored it and filled it with authentic period furnishings down to the spices on the pantry shelves.
I kept wishing I had known about it when my kids were young. I highly recommend it to your family. Entering the front door is like walking back in time 150 years. You can find out more about their hours and special events here:
